Getting started

Aisle keeps sold-out products out of the way in the Shopify collections you choose, on a schedule you set. It works inside your Shopify admin and adds nothing to your storefront — no theme changes, nothing to paste anywhere — so it cannot slow your store down or break your theme.

1. Choose a collection

A new install shows No collections yet. Press Choose a collection and pick one from Shopify's own collection picker. After that the button reads Add collection.

Aisle only looks after the collections you add, one at a time. There is no bulk switch, and new collections are never added for you.

2. Switch it to Manual

Shopify only lets products be reordered in a collection whose sort order is set to Manually. So a collection on one of Shopify's own sort orders shows Not sorting yet, and Aisle changes nothing in it until you allow the change.

Open the collection and press Switch to Manual. Aisle records the sort order the collection was on first, so it can put that back later. While Aisle is looking after the collection, Shopify's own sorting for it no longer applies.

A collection you had already set to Manually skips this step. There is nothing to ask about — and nothing for Aisle to put back later.

3. Say what should happen

Turn on Keep this collection sorted, then choose one:

  • Move sold-out products to the bottom — they stay in the collection, below everything in stock.
  • Hide sold-out products instead — they come out of this one collection. They stay published and stay in your other collections. Aisle only puts back products it hid itself, and restocked products come back even if you have switched hiding off since.

Both of those are on every plan, including Free.

Then order the rest by applies one choice to everything still in stock: Leave the order alone, Newest first, Cheapest first, Most expensive first or Best stocked first. Which of them you see depends on your plan — see Plans and limits.

Set Check to how often Aisle should look at the collection, then press Save. You will see Saved.

4. Press Run now

Run now sorts the collection straight away instead of waiting for the schedule. The button reads Sorting… while it works, and the page updates itself when it finishes.

Underneath, Last runRecent runs on Pro — tells you what happened: Sorted with a count of products moved, Already in order, or Failed with the reason.

Aisle sorts collections of up to 2,000 products. A larger one fails and says so, rather than half sorting it.

From then on

Aisle checks the collection on the schedule you chose and reorders it when something sells out or is restocked. It only ever looks on that schedule: the fastest is every 15 minutes, on Pro, and the free plan checks once a day.

Most checks change nothing and say Already in order. That is normal.

Before you uninstall

Press Turn Aisle off at the bottom of the Collections page first. It puts back any products Aisle hid, then sets every collection back to the sort order it had before.

Shopify removes Aisle's access the moment you uninstall, so after that it can no longer change your collections back.

If a collection was already sorted manually before you added it, there is no earlier sort order to go back to. Products stay in the order Aisle left them.
